My story was published in the first issue of Something Wicked (as part of the competition). It was read by the producers/script-writers of an SABC cartoon series and on the strength of it they offered me the opportunity to become part of their team.
This awesome offer would never have come about without all of Joe and Vianne's brilliant work on the magazine, and goes to show that there are people from all walks of life out there reading Something Wicked and taking note of the writers, artists and contributors.
There are very few platforms for new and emerging writers/artists to showcase their talents, especially in the horror/sci-fi field, and I can't thank you guys enough for having the guts to start this magazine, and for potentially opening doors for me and other writers out there.

I take it you mean South Africa itself? yes, that is true. Internationally - no, not really, there's still quite a lot. It takes time and effort, but they are there.
